I chose this class because I just switched my major this pass semester from Vocal Performance to Cultural World Studies. I did that because I was struggling in my music courses and as recreation I took courses like Harlem Renaissance and Black Arts Movement and Race and Ethnic Relations. I ended up accidently headed down the path to minoring in Black Studies and seeing as there is no Black Studies major I opted for Cultural World Studies and here I am. I'm not sure what interests me about "culture" because I'm kind of unsure of what the proper definition of culture is. You mentioned that you went to the U of C and there is discussion about the relevance of culture well my dad is a professor at the U of C (Kenneth Warren) and he actually had talked to me about that argument. Not in depth but he has mentioned it. I guess I'm just interested in learning how to look around myself and be able to look at situations and circumstances in several different ways. What you said about being the boring person at a party I want to be the person who understands what that person is talking about. I just want to learn new ways to interpret things I see every day and things that I see every day are part of my culture.
